I Know How to Hire a Comedian

January 19th, 2012

Cary Comedians CC-OOOHH!One of the first things I learned as an event planner and coordinator was how to hire a comedian. You’d be surprised at how often this comes up. Most of the events I organize need some type of entertainment, and comedy is always a good bet. However, because each event is different, I have to be very careful about which comedians I hire. The biggest mistake I could make would be to hire an R-rated comedian for a family-oriented party. Can you imagine how upset people would be if the standup comic began swearing and talking about adult topics in front of children or elderly grandparents? Luckily, there are so many different kinds of comedians that I can always find someone appropriate, no matter what the occasion. I keep a notebook of all the people I’ve hired in the past, and I will often book them for another event if they did well the first time. This saves me a lot of effort in looking for new comedians for every event.

How to Get That Perfect Gag Gift

January 21st, 2011

Many people like to pull pranks so if that is you, then you need to go out and get some great gag gifts. For the gag gift such as a fake doctors note to really do its job you have to do yours and here is your job.

Why are you getting the gag gift? You should consider why you are giving this gift. Is it for a wedding, birthday, holiday or retirement? Birthday’s you can do over the hill stuff. Retirements can be about how forgetful older people can be. Weddings can be about tying the old knot and the old ball and chain.

Who are you getting this gift for? Know what this person likes and doesn’t like. What hobbies do they love and do they have pets? What kind of humor do they like?

Inside jokes are great for gag gifts. What silly thing has this person done and get the gift for that occasion.
